TOWSAFE is the original tow car matcher, generating results for over 1 billion potential car and caravan match tow match permutations.
Haymarket Publishing initially developed the system for Practical Caravan magazine. The system generated results from matching data feeds from caravan manufacturers and vehicle data provided by What Car? Magazine.
Originally used by magazine subscribers, the system grew in sophistication as reputable caravan dealers saw the benefit of using a tow car matcher to ensure new customers left the forecourt with a correctly matched tow car and caravan.
Towsafe meets the demands of the caravan industry. We conduct due diligence on the information received from the major car data suppliers (CAP and JATO) to ensure that it fits the purpose.
We collate this data, along with further information from the DVLA and physical vehicle inspections, and check and verify over 10,000 data points each year.
This labour-intensive exercise helps us to provide meaningful match results.
The easy-to-use service helps you confirm whether your preferred car and caravan combination is safe and legal.
Every report includes a detailed analysis of the following:
- vehicle technical data
- caravan technical data
- MTPLM results
- combined gross weights
- achievable noseweight
You also receive a summary confirming whether your results are legal and safe, plus additional notes.
How to match a tow vehicle and caravan
Head to the TOWSAFE website and enter a vehicle registration number. If you don’t have a registration number, you can select a tow car manually by clicking the ‘Start with a car’ icon. This option lets you find and match award-winning and recommended Tow Cars.
Alternatively, start your match with a caravan using the ‘Start with a caravan’ icon. Either will allow you to perform a comprehensive 1:1 towing match.
The system also highlights award-winning tow cars, such as Practical Caravan, What Car?, and the Camping and Caravanning Club voted for.
